The Retail Jewelers Organization has recognized and honored David Hayman Jewellers as an "Ultimate Resource Jeweller" for outstanding knowledge of gems, jewelry, and customer service.
David Hayman: Master Jeweller and CEO
David has 30 years of experience in the Jewelry Industry starting as an art major specializing in 3-Dimensional design. He took his first class in jewelry and fell in love with miniature sculpture by doing one of a kind commissions in silver, then moved on to gold. Soon people began asking him to add diamonds and colored stones to new designs. To learn to set stones, David apprenticed to a very talented bench jeweler.
As the designs were finished, the clients began wanting to know more about their stones, so he went back to school earning a degree from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Diamond Grading, Gem Identification, and Appraising. At that time, David was working as a Fine Jewelry Salesman and Store Manager by day, and at night he would do his own custom designs as well as repairs for other jewelry stores, gaining experience as fast as he could with his eye on starting a store with his wife, Teri.
Twenty-six years later, David is now on the Board of Directors for the California Jewelers Association (CJA). The CJA is an organization that is responsible for organizing the largest jewelry trade show in California. He is also a lifetime member of the GIA Alumni Association and Colleagues.
Teri Hayman: CFO
Teri has been in the business with her husband David since 1981. Like her husband, she is also an Alumnus of GIA. Teri is active in the Women's Jewelry Association, keeping her up to date with the latest styles and trends in jewelry.
The Next Generation of Jewellers:
Ian (Operations Manager) and Jessica Hayman (Sales Manager)
Ian and Jessica plan on following in their parents footsteps to one day run David Hayman Jewellers together. Ian is currently studying under his father to learn jewelry repair and custom design. He is in attendance at Cal Poly Pomona where he is studying Management and plans on getting his Bachelors Degree.
Jessica has recently graduated with her Bachelors Degree with an emphasis in Marketing from Cal Poly Pomona. She has already begun continuing her education by enrolling in GIA. She also plans to earn her Masters Degree in Business Administration. Jessica inheirited her father's eye for custom design, having designed pieces manufactured on a large scale.
